It is always better to insert a relevant picture into the presentation slide to convey the meaning which your audience can understand easily. It may be a graph, a picture of the item you are describing, an object that relates to what you are speaking at that time.

More than 2 pictures is not recommended, but more than 4 pictures on a single slide is totally a waste because the audience will be confused and some sitting far away may not even be able to see the picture details properly.
